04/23/2008: New funding opportunities for collaboration EU-LAM
The European Commission has recently published three interesting funding opportunities to promote the collaboration between European and Latin American regions. The opportunities are related to different sectors depending of the objectives of the programmes; in particular the call for proposal are: URB-AL III to contribute to increasing the degree of social and territorial cohesion within local and regional entities in Latin America; the programme ALFA III to encourage the co-operation between higher education institutions of EU and LAM countries; and the programme AL-INVEST IV an economic co-operation programme that aims to support the internationalisation of SMEs in Latin America in collaboration with their European partners to reinforce social cohesion in the region. 03/10/2008: LAC-ACCESS: Travel grants for LAM researchers
With the idea to facilitate contacts and the creation of collaboration projects in the frame of FP7, the LAC-ACCESS project offers travel grants to Latin American researchers to participate to Conferences taking place in the EU and concerning the six priority areas: Health, Food, Agriculture and Biotechnology, Information and Communication Technology, Energy, Environment, Economic Sciences, Social and Human Sciences. The aim of this grant scheme is to facilitate LAM researchers’ access to specialized conferences, to promote exchange between them and European researchers as well as to encourage contacts between institutions so that they may explore possibilities for joint participation in the FP7. 12/17/2007: ELAN workshop: European and Latin American Network
The eHealth Competence Center of Regensburg, organised the last Wednesday 5th of December, the event ELAN "European and Latin American Network" on the framework of the international event "eHealth: Combining Health Telematics, Telemedicine, Biomedical Engineering and Bioinformatics to the Edge", in the city of Regensburg (Germany). The event, aimed at providing a comprehensive presentation of existing and emerging projects, success stories, and round table discussions in the context of collaboration between Latin America and Europe, has counted with the participation of different organizations, associations, and networks in this domain coming from EU and LAM countries. The EU-LAM initiatives @LIS, @HEALTH, VIT@LIS and WINDS have been presented to encourage the ICT collaboration between European and Latin American organisations. 10/30/2007: Results of the 1st conference about ICT applied to Primary Care Service
The last 27th and 28th of September, was held in Belo Horizonte (Brazil) the 1st conference about ICT applied to Primary Care Service, where representatives of different LAM and EU countries participated. The conference, organized in the framework of the European programme “EuroSocial Salud”, offered to the assistances the opportunity to share experiences about ICT technologies/applications in primary care services, and also to discuss about the process and the eHealth strategies in EU and LAM regions. The @HEALTH community has been also presented as opportunity to encourage the international cooperation and the technology transfer between both regions. 09/11/2007: VIT@LIS day
The next 5 October 2007 will be realised the “VIT@LIS day” an initiative organised by Red VIT@LIS aiming at promoting the international collaboration between Europe and Latin America in the Information Society.
